The Value Growth Plan™ is the written explanation of the business you have, the ownership future you want and the changes needed to connect them. It sits in The Plan section of your Owner’s Playbook.
Make the reasoning visible
The Scorecard states your goals. The Roadmap shows capabilities and gaps. The North Star sets annual direction. The Game Plan names the next quarter’s work. The Value Growth Plan explains why those choices fit together, including the numbers and people needed to support them.
Its four questions organize the story: Where have you been? Where are you? Where do you want to go? How will you get there? Someone reading it should understand the business, your ownership direction, the priorities and trade-offs, and any material assumptions still awaiting a decision.
For example, a plan to reduce your operating hours should explain which responsibilities move, who will carry them, what the change costs and what the financial outlook supports. Keep the detailed calculations in the model and the current commitments in their working tools.
Review it when you make decisions
Open the written plan at the start of the Quarterly Boardroom to review the direction and reasoning before choosing the next quarter’s work. Annual planning revisits the longer goals and coming year. Monthly reviews can refer to it when a decision calls for that context; they do not require rewriting the narrative every month.
Update the affected sections when a material choice changes. Keep goals, forecasts and adopted decisions distinguishable, and preserve the earlier version. Naming an unresolved assumption does not make missing financial work complete.
