I founded Independence by Design after selling my family’s $21 million copier and IT business at 27. The experience left me with questions about the decisions we made before the sale, what we wanted from the company and what we could have understood sooner.

The business was part of our income, our wealth, our relationships and our identity. Those things were connected, but we did not have one clear way to see the whole picture and make the trade-offs together.
